Amid the tragic accidental airstrike in Zamfara State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged military authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The party emphasized that such tragedies must not derail the ongoing fight against banditry in the region.
The APC expressed deep sorrow over the airstrike, which claimed more than 20 lives, including members of the Community Protection Guard (CPG), vigilantes, and residents of Tungar Kara village in Maradun Local Government Area. In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Mallam Yusuf Idris Gusau, the party extended condolences to the state government and the grieving families, praying for divine comfort and the fortitude to endure the loss.
Recognizing the military’s recent achievements, the APC lauded the efforts of Operation Fasan Yamma, which successfully dismantled bandit hideouts and neutralized over 25 terrorists in Fakai, a known stronghold of notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. The party noted that these intensified operations have disrupted bandit activities, with Turji himself reportedly on the run.
“This strategic offensive is yielding results and should be sustained with the cooperation of all peace-loving citizens,” the statement concluded.
