In a significant move, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has approved the new national minimum wage of ₦70,000 for civil servants, starting from August.

Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, the state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), announced this development after a private meeting with the governor at the Government House. Governor Fintiri had earlier committed to implementing the Federal Government’s minimum wage resolution during the 2024 May Day celebrations. Fashe explained that the new wage will be calculated using the 2019 consequential adjustment template, with the Accountant General’s office responsible for updating the payroll for August. However, local government workers may face a delay, with their salary adjustments potentially starting in September, subject to a review by the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission.
