More than 20 medical and dental students, along with a House Officer, have been abducted by gunmen in Benue State. The students, hailing from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were en route to Enugu for the annual convention of the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) when the kidnapping occurred.
The incident took place around 5:30 p.m. in the Otukpo area of Benue State, where the students were ambushed by the armed men while traveling together. SP Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, confirmed the abduction and stated that an investigation into the incident is underway.
“Yes, the report of the kidnapping is true. The report was received around 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing,” Anene said.
