In light of the planned nationwide #EndBadGovernance protest set to begin on August 1, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu during this ‘transformative period.’
In a statement personally signed and released to journalists on Saturday evening, Tunji-Ojo emphasized the need for unity and backing for Tinubu’s administration. Tinubu had earlier called on the mostly anonymous protest organizers to cancel the demonstration, assuring that his government is addressing the concerns of Nigerians.
Several prominent Nigerians, including political and opinion leaders, have echoed the President’s plea, advising that the protest be called off. Despite these appeals and warnings from government and security agencies, the organizers appear determined to proceed with the protest.
As the August 1 protest date approaches, Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to support Tinubu during this challenging time. Describing Tinubu as a bold, audacious, and tenacious leader, the minister highlighted the President’s efforts to tackle longstanding national issues. He stressed that Tinubu’s success depends on the support of Nigerians.
“Sixty-four years after achieving sovereignty, our nation has strived toward a better future.
