Nigerian leaders must provide good governance to ensure steady growth and development in the nation, urged Bishop Godwin Robinson, Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Diocese of Lafia.
During the 2024 Synod of the Anglican Communion in Lafia, Bishop Godwin Robinson of the Diocese of Lafia urged Nigerian leaders to deliver good governance that will drive consistent growth and development in the nation. The bishop expressed concern over the nation’s ongoing issues with insecurity and hunger.
The three-day annual event brought together church leaders to brainstorm, reflect, and review their activities and the affairs of the nation. It also provided an opportunity for the leaders to pray for God’s intervention in enhancing Nigeria’s spiritual stability and prosperity.
In his address, Bishop Robinson called on politicians to provide purposeful leadership to restore the people’s confidence and hope. He emphasized that the political class must introduce policies and programs to bridge the widening gap between the rich and the poor, stating, “The essence of leadership is not just to amass wealth, but an opportunity to render selfless service to improve the living conditions of the people.”
The bishop also encouraged Nigerians to remain prayerful and not lose faith in God despite current challenges.
Governor Abdullahi Sule, who attended the event, highlighted the crucial role citizens play in ensuring good governance. He noted that with the church’s continuous support, the state government would persist in implementing people-driven policies aimed at stimulating growth and development in Nasarawa.
