Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has selected 1,800 individuals for teaching positions across the state.
In the statement issued by Sam Onile, the Commission’s press secretary, the successful applicants emerged after a three-month assessment period that consisted of computer based test and interviews.
“The shortlisted comprises 790 (44%) for STEM subjects; 581 for core subjects; 370 for specialized; and 59 for technical subjects,” the statement read.
“They will be assigned to senior secondary schools across the 16 local government areas of the state in line with the needs assessment of the commission.”
The press secretary informed the shortlisted candidates that there will undergo a mandatory drug test to determine their suitability to teach.
The tests will be conducted from Wednesday, April 9th to Saturday, April 12th 2025. Testing will begin with candidates from Baruten, Edu, Kaiama and Patagi. The following day will see candidates from Ekiti, Ifelodun, Irepodun and Isin being tested. Offa, Oke Ero, Oyun and Maro will be tested on Friday, with candidates from Asa and the three Ilorin councils completing the process on Saturday.
The results of the test will be sent directly to TESCOM to avoid altering of results.
Additionally, successful applicants will also sign a six-year bond, prohibiting them from requesting transfers. This is part of an effort to boost education in rural areas.
