GOD’S CHILDREN AS PILGRIMS TO THE HEAVENLY KINGDOM:
MANIFESTATION OF GOD’S REIGN ON EARTH
NINETEENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY
Date: Oct 15, 2023
Sub Theme: Challenges to Manifestation as Pilgrims to heavenly Kingdom 6
 Topic: Economic Challenge
 Text:
Gen 26:1-2, Gen 26:12-22
 Aims
to affirm that economic challenges are part of our world and
to show how PILGRIMS TO HEAVENLY KINGDOM can manifest irrespective of these challenges, including poverty and hunger.
 Introduction
Though Isaac was a direct descendant of God’s promise of blessings to Abraham, he still found himself in a land ravaged by famine. In fact, nowhere in scripture did God promise a life free of challenges, and this include economic challenges; usually in the forms of poverty, hunger and difficulty in catering for basic needs. These also characterize our present world. Jesus, our Lord, underlined this truth by comforting us in John 16:33.
 Study Guide
How do you understand Economic challenge in Biblical context? Read Gen.26:1; 2Kings 6:25-29.
How can economic challenges affect our manifestation as Pilgrims to heavenly kingdom? 2Kings 4:1; Mark 8:2-4; Acts 6:1; and how can we overcome them? Rom.15:25-26.
What consolation would you give a Christian brother/sister who is going through economic hardship, poverty and challenges? Rom 8:18; 2Co 4:17; IPet 1:6-7; IPet 4:13.
What can the Church or fellowship of Christians do to alleviate the pains of a suffering believer? Acts 11:28-30; Rom.15:26-27.
 Conclusion
Economic challenges are real and inevitable; but true Christians – Pilgrims to heavenly kingdom can face them with courage and wisdom. However, our hope should be built on the fact that our Lord has overcome the world and has prepared something better for us in eternity.
 Food for Thought
Economic hardship is terrible, but God is faithful
 Memory Verse
John 16:33 – These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
