Aims
to define joy in the context of the Christian pilgrimage on earth
to look beyond the suffering of this world unto the everlasting joy of the over-comers.
Introduction
Joy is a feeling of great pleasure and happiness. Our text today exposed us to the fact that Christians need to see beyond the earthly gain, success and victories that give us temporary joy. Despite the fact that Jesus knew His place in heaven, he took pleasure in dying on the cross for the ransom of our souls. We also, must always know that beyond the shame, mockery, frustration and even death for the sake of Christ, we have eternal Joy awaiting us in heaven. However, we must be careful never to surfer as unbelievers and sinners.

How can you define Joy in our study t today? Read 1Pet 4:12-13; Jas 1:2.
From Heb 12:2, explain the Joy of Jesus on earth?What lesson can you derive from this?
Mention some of the challenges that can bring sadness to us as Christians according to Matt 5:11; Matt 10:17-18; 2Cor 12:10.

Conclusion
No matter the earthly enjoyment, it is very temporal and can never be compared to the eternal joy of the victorious pilgrims in heaven. Therefore, whatever challenges for the sake of Christ and His kingdom; let us continuously rejoice with the hope of eternal Joy.
Food for Thought
Earthly Joy is temporal, but heavenly Joy is eternal.
