Aims
to study the concept and context of loss of appetite for godliness
show how best to revive or develop our Christian appetite for godliness.
Introduction
Loss, the first key-word in our topic today simply means taking something that is precious away from a person. Appetite, simply means a strong desire or liking for something. Therefore, loss of Godly appetite means; taking away the strong desire for godly livelihood from Christians. Our Bible passage exposes the behaviours and attitudes of those who had totally loss appetite to God’s words and His ways. Is our Christian generation not fast loosing appetite to godly matters?
Study Guide
Explain loss of Godly appetite from the context of our study today. Ps 14:2-3; Rom 1:21
From Rom 3:10-18, mention the results of loss for godly appetite.
Mention some of the manifestations of loss of appetite for godliness in our Christian generation. Jer 23:11; Hos 7:3; Rom 1:25, Rom 1:29-31. How can these challenge our manifestation as pilgrims to the Kingdom of God?
How best can we revive or develop our appetite for Godliness? Ps 27:4; Ps 119:16; Eph 4:17-18;
Conclusion
God’s desire is for us to be hungry for His words and paths of righteousness. As Christians, we need to be on the lookout for attitudes that can destroy our appetite for godly livelihood. We should wage spiritual war against such attitudes so as to always be on the path of God’s kingdom.
