The Overseer of Living Word Conquerors Global Assembly, David Abioye, has raised alarm over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, warning that the country is “descending into a jungle” if urgent action is not taken.

Abioye made the remarks during a sermon at a Special Easter Celebration Service held at the church’s headquarters in Abuja, where he lamented the continued wave of killings across parts of Northern Nigeria.

He specifically highlighted the rising violence in Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, and Taraba states, describing the trend as dangerous and increasingly becoming normalised.

According to the cleric, recent attacks in Plateau and Nasarawa have displaced hundreds of residents, forcing many to flee their homes in search of safety.

He warned that the seeming disregard for human life reflects a serious breakdown in the country’s security framework.

“In a situation where about 30 people are killed just like that, including a pregnant woman, it shows that human life is no longer valued,” he said.

“Our dear government must take responsibility. The people need help; they have nowhere else to turn.”

Abioye, who previously served as Vice President of Living Faith Church Worldwide, said he was deeply disturbed by videos showing families — including children and the elderly — escaping violence on motorcycles.

He cautioned that if the situation continues unchecked, its consequences could affect everyone, including those in positions of authority.

The cleric emphasised that leadership comes with responsibility and urged those in power to act decisively to address the crisis.

“Responsibility is not hidden. Leadership itself is a responsibility. Everyone in authority must rise up and act,” he said.

He also led prayers for the nation, asking for peace, divine intervention, and an end to the ongoing violence.

“The church of Jesus will keep marching on, and the gates of hell shall not prevail,” he declared.

Abioye further called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace across the North-West, North-East, and North-Central regions, while urging security agencies to intensify efforts to restore order nationwide.
