Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has cautioned against prioritizing worldly wealth over their spiritual well-being.
Adeboye delivered this message to believers at the church’s 73rd Annual Convention, speaking on the theme “The Overcomers,” he emphasized that true victory in Christ comes from spiritual discipline, not from material riches.
He clarified that while God isn’t against prosperity, he condemned the pursuit of wealth through immoral means. “If you’re chasing money and losing your soul in the process, that would be stupidity,” he stated.
He reminded the congregation that earthly possessions are temporary. “What use is your wealth when you die? You can’t take any of it with you.”
The cleric described an overcomer’s life as one rooted in ‘sacrifice’ and ‘self-control’, urging Christians to resist worldly temptations.
He likened the spiritual journey to a battle, telling attendees, “Life is warfare filled with battles. But take heart you’re not alone. The Holy Spirit in you is greater than anything you’re up against.”
He concluded by highlighting the internal struggle between the flesh and the spirit, encouraging believers to choose their spiritual side. “You are a mix of dust and divinity. The flesh pulls you down, while the Spirit of God lifts you up. To live as an overcomer, you must choose the Spirit.”
