The House of Representatives, on Wednesday, resolved to investigate the alleged forgery of the UTME result by Ejikeme Mmesoma. The House passed the resolution during the plenary following the adoption of a motion sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party lawmaker from Rivers State, Abiante Awaji-Inombek. The embattled 19-year-old Anambra student, Ejikeme, had been in the news following allegations of UTME score forgery by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. The Military Pensions Board (MPB) on Tuesday announced the payment of the third tranche of the Security Debarment Allowance (SDA) to eligible military retirees and next-of-kins of deceased pensioners. Stock investors recorded a significant loss of N671bn on Tuesday at the Nigerian equity market which had posted a strong start at the beginning of the second half of the year. The All-Share Index closed at 60,715.04 index points, 1.99 percent less than the 61,949.24 index points it recorded at the end of the previous trading day. The Nigeria Customs Service seized a total of N3.02bn worth of smuggled rice between May 2022 and May 2023, findings, on Tuesday, showed. Data obtained from the service through its National Public Relations Officer, who is a Chief Superintendent of Customs, Abdullahi Maiwada, indicated that a total of 206,835 bags of rice were seized within the period under review.
