Sixty-one migrants, including women and children, from Nigeria, Gambia, and other African countries have drowned following a shipwreck off Libya en route to Europe. According to the International Organization for Migration, IOM, a United Nations agency, said the boat originally contained 86 people and left the Libyan shores from Zwara. The Supreme Court has declined to order the release of the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, from detention. It was reported that the apex court, in a judgment delivered by Justice Emmanuel Agim, but written by Justice Garba Lawal, voided and set aside the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which in October last year ordered Kanu’s release and quashed the terrorism charges against him. The Rivers State Government has given reasons for the demolition of the Rivers State House of Assembly Complex.
