The Federal Government, on Monday, approved the implementation of some of the Stephen Oronsaye Report recommendations to reduce the cost of governance. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, Monday. With the apex government adoption, 29 government agencies will be merged and eight parastatals will be subsumed into eight other agencies. Hundreds of civil servants took to the streets of Akure, the Ondo State capital on Tuesday to protest current economic hardship in the country. The protest was based on the directives of the national body of the Nigeria Labour Congress. Civil servants in Kwara and Kaduna States have stormed the streets of Ilorin and along Independent Way in Kaduna respectively to voice their concerns about the prevailing economic challenges in the country. The National Examination Council NECO, on Monday, revealed that 50,066 candidates representing 67.35 percent of the total number of candidates that sat for Senior School Certificate Examinations got five credits including Mathematics and English language.
