The incumbent Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, has visited the embattled former governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, amidst a heavy security crackdown on the latter’s Abuja home. Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, has cautioned that 148 local government areas (LGAs) across 31 states are among the highly probable flood-risk areas for 2024. Mr Utsev issued this warning during the official unveiling of the 2024 Annual Flood Outlook (AFO) on Monday in Abuja. Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu ratified the country’s Anti-Defection Bill on Tuesday. The bill grants legal enforcement for lawmakers who defect to another party and lose their parliament seats. The president’s office announced that the bill was approved on April 1.
