The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has debunked reports that it has authorised commercial banks to accept old ₦500, and ₦1,000 notes. In a statement by Osita Nwanisobi, CBN’s Director of Corporate Communications on Friday, the apex bank said for the avoidance of doubt, the CBN is only reissuing and recirculating the old N200 banknotes. The Immanuel College of Theology, Samonda, Ibadan, Oyo State, has disowned one arrested drug suspect, Udezuka Udoka, as widely reported by the media on Sunday. Udoka is one of the drug suspects arrested last Saturday, along with a General Overseer of a Lagos-based church, High Priest Nnodu Azuka Kenrick and Oyoyo Mary Obasi. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released guidelines to deposit old versions of the redesigned naira notes at its branches nationwide. The apex bank announced on Tuesday amongst other things that the exercise will be open only between February 15 and 17. The bank emphasised that the deposit is not a cash swap program and that new notes will not be issued in exchange for old notes.
