Akwa Ibom Increases Corp Members Monthly Allowance to N20,000

The allowance has been quadrupled from N5,000 to N20,000.

Umo Eno, the governor of Akwa Ibom has announced a significant increase in the monthly allowance paid by the state to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving within its borders. The allowance has been quadrupled from N5,000 to N20,000.


The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the increment will be effective August 1st, 2025.


This raise aims to provide additional support to the corps members, complementing the Federal Government’s existing N77,000 monthly allowance and assisting them with their basic living expenses.


Governor Eno underscored the importance of encouraging and backing the over 10,000 corps members posted to Akwa Ibom each year.

In a further move to enhance corps members’ welfare, the governor had previously approved the reconstruction of the NYSC Orientation Camp located at Ikot Itie Idung.
