The Diocese of Egba has honoured 39 clergymen with ecclesiastical preferments as part of activities marking its Golden Jubilee celebration.
The preferments were announced on Monday, August 3, 2026, during the Diocese’s 50th anniversary, which coincided with the exact date of its establishment.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Egba, the Rt. Revd. Emmanuel Oludaisi Adekunle, PhD, conferred the honours in recognition of the recipients’ faithful service, dedication and contributions to the growth of the Church.
A total of 13 clergy were elevated to the rank of Venerable. They are: Revd. Canon John Abiodun Sotade, Revd. Canon Isaiah Olukayode Adeyemi, Revd. Canon Babajide Olusegun Bamgboye, Revd. Canon David Adebukoye Adediran, Revd. Canon Joshua Oludaisi Oladiji, Revd. Canon Israel OlaOluwa Shoga, Revd. Canon Augustine Adedeji Badejo, Revd. Canon Ayodele Ayodeji Adesunloye, Revd. Canon Albert Oluwaseun Ogunde, Revd. Canon Solomon Adekunle Akomolafe, Revd. Canon Olufemi Okutoberu Okumoye, Revd. Canon Emmanuel Olatunbosun Babatunde and Revd. Canon Solomon Olufemi Oladimeji.
Eight clergy were also preferred as Statutory Canons. They include Canon Stephen Oluwaseun Fawale, Canon Victor Olufemi Obijole, Canon Moses Akinyele Abimboye, Canon James Adebamgbele Olugbebi, Canon Emmanuel Olusegun Okanlawon, Canon Ebenezer Olumide Folayan, Canon Ebenezer Olatunji Oliyide and Canon David Olanrewaju Muideen.
In addition, 18 clergy received preferment as Honorary Canons. They are Revd. Dr. Bola T. Ajibola Babalola, Revd. Festus Ayowole Ajeleti, Revd. James Oluwafemi Kembi, Revd. David Sunday O. Kinoshi, Revd. Taiwo Oladimeji Kuponiyi, Revd. Ezekiel Makinde Fatehinse, Revd. Samuel Taiwo Adenekan, Revd. Abraham Olusegun Akeju, Revd. Samuel Olusegun Adetunji, Revd. Michael Oluwadamilare Omolola, Revd. Kehinde Joseph Abidoye, Revd. Solomon Oluwaseyi Orekoya, Revd. Abraham Ayobami Sadiku, Revd. Samuel Abiodun Sonola, Revd. Benjamin Oladapo Adekunle, Revd. Gabriel Adetayo Oshofuwa, Revd. Temidayo Gbenga Ajayi and Revd. Oluwole Senkale.
The Diocese said the preferments were in recognition of the clergy’s faithful and dedicated service to God and His Church over the years.
The Diocese congratulated all the recipients and prayed that God would continue to grant them wisdom, grace and strength for greater effectiveness in His vineyard.
