TOPIC: NO EXCUSES FOR THE LORD’S WORK

TEXT: 2 Samuel 7:1-3(NKJV)

  • 7:1. Now it came to pass when the king was dwelling in his house, and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies all around,
  • 7:2. that the king said to Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells inside tent curtains.”
  • 7:3. Then Nathan said to the king, “Go, do all that [is] in your heart, for the LORD [is] with you.”

STUDY:

As a king, David had a lot on his mind. He had all the affairs of the kingdom to deal with. He was to mediate in disputes, meet diplomatic delegations, form national policies, watch over the army and other branches of government, etc. However, he was not too busy for God. He didn’t make perpetual excuses for why he couldn’t build the Lord’s temple after God had given him rest from his enemies.

Instead, he took an initiative to volunteer to make sure that the job got done. No one asked him. No one mentioned it. He strictly observed that the Ark of the Lord was kept in a wrong environment and decided to build a befitting paneled house, for it. Oh, what a glorious project to embark on!

Beloved, we must never become too busy for God. If a king was not too busy to serve God, you shouldn’t be either. Again, be observant and when you notice that things need to be done, don’t wait to be asked. Take proactive steps to provide solutions for the problems you observe.

PRAYER:

Lord, may I always readily serve you no matter where I find myself, Amen!
