Nigeria forward, Tolu Arokodare, has joined Belgian Pro League outfit, KRC Genk.

Arokodare moved to the Belgian club from  French Ligue 2 club, Amiens SC on Tuesday night. The deal agreed is for four and half seasons.

He replaces fellow Nigerian Paul Onuachu, who left the Smurfs to join Premier League club, Southampton in an £18million deal in a last minute transfer deadline move.

Arokodare, who posted photos from his transfer on his Instagram page on Wednesday, said he was very happy with the move.

As seen on the club’s website, Arokodare said, “I am very happy to be in Genk. At this point in my career I can’t imagine a better club.

“Together with the team I hope to continue the good results of the first half of the season and to win prizes. Paul leaves big shoes to fill. But I am determined to give 100% for this great club.”

Genk’s sporting director Dimitri Conde  explaining why the club signed the Nigerian said, “Despite his height, he is very agile, fast in the first meters and strong with his head.

“Tolu is already showing flashes of its class today. In addition, there is also a lot of stretch. Under the wings of our technical staff, he will be able to take major steps forward in the coming years. We have proven with several other young talents that KRC Genk is the ideal environment for this.”
